Synopsis

Album Description
For more than 10 years Julius Papp has stood at the very forefront of the soulful house movement. With 12 releases spanning across dozens of top shelf labels, his contribution to dance music can be seen and felt in every corner of the globe. This past year, Julius launched his very own label, NeoDisco Music, with the help of Soulfuric Recordings. Together, they saw to it that NeoDisco 12"?s would immediately become some of the most sought after records in the world. Now, by partnering with San Francisco?s Loveslap Recordings, Julius delivers the first CD from NeoDisco, Gotta Keep Movin? which, as the name suggests, calls on house music fans of the world to keep their souls aloft, the music pumpin? and the parties going. This CD delivers exactly what Julius? many fans live for...a deep and soulful perspective on dance music while keeping the party going in a positive direction. From disco laden grooves and meticulous Afrobeat rhythms to the sultry West Coast vocals the world remains smitten by, Gotta Keep Movin? is programmed equally for the living room as it is for the dancefloor. Tracks include both brand new productions from Julius himself as well as some his favorite songs from other artists and labels. The Loveslap Remix of Goapele?s stunning hit song "Closer" makes its debut appearance, as does a brand new Lisa Shaw vocal from West Coast golden-boy Miguel Migs. Other highlights include Ron Carroll?s 2003 mega-anthem "Back Together", and Loveslap honcho Charles Spencer?s new electro-tinged "Board Meeting".

CD Reviews

Best Julius Papp CD Yet, by far...
Jack Freely | San Francisco, ca United States | 06/08/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I bought Julius' first CD on Loveslap which was excellent, and have seen him numerous times in person. He deilivers nothing short of total house bliss every time he steps up to the turntables. He has outdone himself on Gotta Keep Movin, where his programming and mixing skills can be heard throughout. Unlike a lot of the DJ's these days who do their mixes in the computer, you can tell Julius did this live...and nailed it. Very creative, very soulful, and all house."

"I'm a Papp fan, so I was really disappointed in this disc, with its relentless "getty-up, getty-up, getty-up" beat, and its tired disco themes. I realize 70's disco is getting re-hashed as a club music standard, woven into house music, with all the bells-n-whistles, and pleading vocals. Why? House music is not supposed to be clever/cute...

This CD is one that might keep a party going -- after the crowd has been sufficiently "lubricated" -- but there's just nothing here that grabs me. The mixing is flawless, but song choice is annoying. Especially track 7 "Back Together" by Hardsoul feat. Ron Carroll. The singer's voice is hard on the ears. At one point he delivers a high-pitched moan over and over again. And this is a "club favorite"??

This CD is out of my rotation instantly. If you're into this house-goes-disco stuff, Soulfuric In the House is far better..."
Downtempo at the very best!!!!

"I get for sorprise with this cd, i thought that was good, but it's excellent, the mixes are very strong, no down songs, i like it even better than Miguel Migs, to be honest with you. If you are looking for a party cd, that keep you in the mood and you can start a conversation without screaming a lot this is the cd. Thank you for this gem, and for keep the downtempo and house music at his very best."
