CD Reviews

Guitar Trio at its Best
R. E McBride | Flyover Country | 04/14/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Standards (for the most part) with a fresh take. Kreisberg has incorporated the vocabulary of Pat Martino, Metheny, Peter Bernstein, etc., and made it his own. Fluid, and more polyphonic than a lot of young lions of the guitar. Reminds me of the promises made by Emily Remler before she was cut short.Grenadier and Stewart are, well, Grenadier and Stewart, one of the best bass/drum partners for a trio setting (see all the stuff done with Mehldau, Metheny). There's a lot of great musicians out there, but if you love guitar trio that puts a fresh tone to straight ahead jazz, this is the stuff."
What a great surprise......

"Heard Wayne Shorter's "Juju" by Kreisberg on the radio and bought this cd. What a great disc. He is a great player, very clean and a pleasure to listen to. Kreisberg can swing, burn, and chill all with equal intensity. Outstanding. Worth every cent. Guitar players will be especially appreciative of his ability.......Check out some of his playing on youtube as well.........CrissCross Jazz has another gem with this effort."

"What a remarkable talent Kreisberg is. I took a chance on this because of the stellar rhythm section: believe me this was a meeting of equals. I immediately bought everything I could find with Kreisberg on it. I could write this same review if any one of those cd's had been the first I'd heard.

THIS cat is in for the LONG HAUL. Help him out: buy the cd's and if he comes to town take a damn day off. Hats off, JK. Absolutely beautiful; uplifting; challenging; and inspiring in every way."
