Synopsis

Product Description
What an opportunity and thrill Johnny Rodgers has had performing on Broadway and touring with the legendary Liza Minnelli these past few years. This EP shares some of those happy times with Liza. Let s Make A Date was inspired as Johnny saw the world with Liza Minnelli as her piano man and guest artist. Liza joins Johnny in this swinging duet. Your foot will be a tappin as they coax each other to take some time out for a little bit of huggin and kissin . Enjoy Liza s orchestra as they bring that big band sound alive along with Johnny Rodgers Band. Note that this was Pappy Bill LaVorgna s (long time Liza music director) last recording prior to his passing. We dedicate this song to his lasting memory. You Can Leave Your Hat On is an original arrangement of Randy Newman's classic hit. It grabs you from its brash beginning and then takes you on a fun and sexy ride through to the closing trailer... Don't cut this one off early - ! Thanks again to Liza and her band for the magic they perform. ... And Liza You Can Leave Your Hat On !

"Let's Make A Date is a fine extended play CD with two great songs to thrill us all! Liza Minnelli and Johnny Rodgers never sounded better; and my only wish after hearing these two numbers is that we get a full length album by these two awesome artists really soon! The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done.

The title song "Let's Make A Date" has that classic, swingin' big band sound that is infectiously happy; and don't be surprised if you find yourself jumping up to dance practically wherever you are! "Let's Make A Date" is enhanced by Liza Minnelli and Johnny Rodgers' excellent diction; and these two greats NEVER miss a cue. The musical arrangement uses the brass well; and the electricity of this tune leaves me begging for more.

In addition, "You Can Leave Your Hat On" gets the royal treatment from Johnny Rodgers who never sings a superfluous note. Johnny makes it sound so easy; but of course we know that it really isn't. Johnny's talent is what bolsters this song and it's a treat to listen to this one over and over again!

All in all, this two song extended play single CD is a must-have for fans of the incomparable Liza Minnelli; and fans of Johnny Rodgers will want this one as well. This makes a great addition to my collection!

"One of the first things that this album reminded me of was Michael Buble. I loved how his, and this album have the old fashioned type standards, but perform them in digital, beautiful quality. It almost makes it seem like Liza and Johnny's album is Hip-Hop how well it was sung, and performed by the band on the CD.

I think this CD should have done better Than what it actually has. Although I must admit I thought the "You Can Leave Your Hat On" song was too long by about two minutes. I think about up until the part where its complete silence for a few seconds everything was perfect. But then after the silence came on it seemed like a type of just random trash. Besides that, I loved the song."
