CD ReviewsAn excellent selection of music by a prime Canadian composer 01/17/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "This disc was issued to celebrate the composers' 80th birthday (in 1993) as a joint venture by the Canadian Music Centre and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The concert was organized by one of the participants, pianist Mary Kenedi, who accompanies violinist Martin Beaver in Weinzweig's Violin Sonata. John Weinzweig is one of the most important and influential senior Canadian composers of this Century. Practically all other major Canadian composers have studied with John Weinzweig and have found their own voice because of him. This CD offers an excellent and accessable taste of the genius of this composer and of the high quality of Canadian music in general."
