CD Reviews

Good new songs but....

"Look, I love John waite. I've see him in concert when ever he is nearby in Jersey. I went to see him at Great Adventure in the pouring rain when there were only FIVE people there, and when he toured with Journey. I love his music.

But this album is a dissapointment. Not the music mind you, the album. The new/cover/remake songs are great, wonderful, can't say enough about them. But what's up with the 5 songs from Figure in a Landscape?!!? I don't get it. There is absolutely no need for these songs here. Those that are going to buy this album, I am sure, already own Landscape.

I would have prefered John stay in the studio, even if it took another year or so, and produce a FULL album of all new songs. Or at the very least, release the new songs on a small album at a lesser price."

"5 of the songs on this CD are from John Waite, Figure in a Landscape, which is an excellent poppy album. If this album was promoted properly, I'm sure most of these songs would be hits."
The Hard Way Is Fantastic.

"I recently saw him in concert where he did 3 of these songs on this disc and they just plain rocked, his voice never faltered. On this cd (produced by John) there are 5 remixed or redone tracks from his "figure in a landscape" disc, and they are all good. There is a blend of rock tracks and slow insightful songs typical of the way that only john can write them and sing them. The mix is typical of his past 3 discs; his vocals are right upfront on the mix front and center (right where they should be), giving his albums a personal feeling. After almost 30 years he has not lost a bit of his edge, he can still rock, he can still write pop songs and slower ballads, here he covers allot of ground here too. He is an under rated LEGEND in a business full of performers that don't even write their on music. With lyrics he is a poet, he is emotional, and after meeting him in person (oh yes!!) I can say he is for REAL. The Hard Way is the PROOF."
