Synopsis

Album Description
John Trones' emotive tenor voice, an instrument that moves from casual intimacy to spirit-grabbing intensity, is finely showcased on his new release, FORWARD. His powerful, jazz-flavored vocals energize and ignite, startling the listener with unabashed artistic reverence. FORWARD is a collection of contemporary and Broadway influenced standards and original romantic ballads that perfectly blend the strength of his vocal performance with the beautiful clarity of the flowing piano compositions. Featuring new songs by Jim Brickman and Mary Beth Carlson.

CD Reviews

Smooth, classy, jazzy, & cool! Trones sets the mood in style

"After hearing a friends copy of the CD "Forward" by John Trones, I knew that I had to have a copy in my collection. The CD sets an enveloping romantic atmosphere remniscent of a cool, dark, classy, jazz club. Although I am not a huge fan of standards, this CD is different. Trones does them in a way that that is jazzy and cool. To classify it, I would say "jazz and adult contamporary". I have had the CD playing in my disc changer with the "Diamond Life" CD by Sade and the "Older" CD by George Michael and it's obvious that Trones holds his own. I highly recommend! Light the candles, pour the wine, and press "play"."
What a discovery! Trones is terrific

"The album is dated 1999 on the back, but I just found this album, and what a delight it is. John Trones has a beautiful voice, and he does a marvelous mix of standards and contemporary pop. My favorites were ''One Fine Day,'' ''My Romance'' and ''Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful'' (from Rodgers & Hammerstein's ''Cinderella''). Plus, John glows with Jim Brickman's ''Love of My Life.'' This is such a romantic album and it really reminds me of Tom Andersen's work. For instance, Tom's first CD, ''Far Away Places,'' also features a dreamy ballad from ''Cinderella,'' ''Ten Minutes Ago.'' They both know how to set a sexy mood that mesmerizes you with their music. The only misstep: Recording something as overdone as ''It Had to Be You'' (Harry Connick). Otherwise, I can't wait until I hear John's next CD!"
Great Voice

"John's first album is easy listening at its best. My favorites mirror the other reviews, especially the haunting "Just So You Know". One of my few CDs I've played on numerous occasions. A great debut from a great singer. Looking forward to John's forthcoming holiday CD..."
