Synopsis

Product Description
Recorded on November 22, 1963 at the College of William & Mary, on the evening of the day Presieent John F. Keddey was assassinated. The 4-Disc JOHN BROWNING EDITION has been created with the support of the Estate of John Browning, family, friends and colleagues. The performances featured have been taken from the private recording collection of John Browning, and date back to his youngest days as a performer. The archival recordings from which these discs come have been painstakingly remastered at Squires Productions of Elmsford, New York using the very latest sound restoration means available.

CD Reviews

Hear the composer
Stick-In-The-Mud | San Francisco | 02/13/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

""If you listen to Vladimir Horowitz play these pieces you hear Horowitz, if you listen to Browning play these pieces you hear the composer." I heard this comment decades ago and it changed the way I listen to music. Browning is a subtle, lyrical and vastly underrated pianist. Everything he plays is beautifully rendered, showing respect for the composition and holding back on the excessive flair that is so common in many pianist of today. The issuing of these editions is a reason for celebration. Play him side by side with any other pianist and you will find yourself returning more and more to Browning."
Much better value buying the box set

"For some reason Amazon doesn't offer the boxed set of all four volumes of John Browning Edition, which can be obtained at MSR records for $29.95, an outstanding value. I am not sure why."
