CD Reviews

I'm da Number 1 Fan!

"of JS Bork! And The Elephant Man. And I can't mention this CD without talking about the CDs wonderful artwork and liner notes. AND, the PICTURES! I was too young, unfortunately, to witness first hand the Borklesque Show, but I can at least IMAGINE with the photos that accompany and companion this work. The liner notes and comments left me in stitches...blasted paper cuts! Personal Favorites are the Opening Announcement, Closing Announcement, oh, and everything else! Seriously, I like All That Jazz (who doesn't?). Also Michael Feinstoole's Debut offers a rare (rear?) view into the life of the Biggest Star in all of the Big Top. After hearing Mother Trucker, I too wanted to OWN a Big Rig. The God Why-Don't-You-Love-Me Blues paints the perfect picture into Bork's love life. (And mine as well) Is that all there is? left me asking that very question. So what do I t'ink of da Bork? Fugue Him! and you should too!"
Ladies and Gentlemen!!!.......Fugue You!!!!

"Enter the auditorium quickly and take your seats....give the waitress your two drink minimum order of martinis...and gobble up your steak as soon as they bring it to you, because once the lights are lowered and the curtain opens, you will never be the same again. Fugue You delivers as a great lounge Cd to play over and over for your friends and families that deserved to be fogued over and over again. My personal favorite, "The elephant man", is an ode to the dirtiest , and most unglamorous job in the circus world (no, not the ticket seller), the man behind the elephants!! (literally), and their heroic efforts to have the paying fan concentrate on the sheer size of these mammoth stars, and not their mammoth, er, well, talents? With such titles like Granola rag, and the draining of swan lake (it did happen ,i think)...how could you resist buying this for the local parish for sunday services! By the way, make sure your with that special someone when listening to "i want to make the world laugh", and "Is that all there is" and your sure to score something that will closely look like a homerun. Once again, Fugue You delivers, as does Johann Sebastian Bork!!"
"FUGUE YOU!" RINGS TRUE!

"Not a newcomer to the music scene, Johann Sebastian Bork bursts forth yet again in this collection of honky tonk interpretations suitable for turn-of-the-Century speakeasies, saloons, and bordellos everywhere! Never subtle, Bork bombards his listeners with broad strokes on the 88's, with standing-ovation-renditions of such gems as EASY RIDER, THE FUGUE YOU! RAG, TOCCATA & FUGUE YOU! RAG, THE DRAINING OF SWAN LAKE, and a classic rendition of ORIENTAL BLUES, theme for comic genius Ernie Kovacs. A hysterically funny number features "Guest Star Michael Feinstoole" singing "I'm The #1 Fan of the Elephant Man" which is worth the price of the CD in and of itself! Other comic brilliance shines in bonus tracks/numbers from the "Borklesque" night club extravaganza, notably "Sheena the Queen-a the Nile" and "Mother Trucker" (the Gong Show's Chuck Barris wrote this one.) If you love real ragtime and musical satire, this album was made for you! I've been playing it nonstop since buying it, and have given three more as gifts to people I wanted to say FUGUE YOU! to. Escapes description except to say a mix of Joe "Fingers" Carr, Spike Jones & the City Slickers, Eubie Blake & Max Morath, plus "Hellzapoppin." It's GREAT!"
