CD Reviews

Teflon Don & Dolly Sinatra liked him better than Frank
03/06/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The reason the fan from Chicago posted his review twice is that Jimmy Roselli is about twice as good as any of the other Saloon singers currently working. If you like Tony Bennet, Jerry Vale, Al Martino, Francis Albert, Dino et al, then you will absolutely love Jimmy Roselli's voice. Roselli live is always a treat. This guy grew up ten blocks from Sinatra's house in Hoboken. Dolly, Frank's mother heard him as a 12 year old kid on th street corner and brought him into her house for an audition. Frank was NOT HAPPY about that. Frank also was not happy that Don John Gotti and others always asked Jimmy to sing at their weddings and their children's wedings. When Jimmy told the mob to take a hike, they took his records off the market. Thanks to Amazon.com the discs are again available. Jimmy's story is being made into a movie with John Travolta called "Making the Wise Guys Weep" it should put this 72 year old kid from Jersey up where he belongs in the music world."
Jimmy never hit a bad note in his life

"and this night at C.H. was no different. If onl the engineers had done a better job mixing this album! Surprisingly, we only get one Italian song but its a great reading of "Vesti La Giubba" and Jimmy really hits it! And that version of "Little Pal", well, Jimmy's never been ashamed to cry when he delivers a sentimental tune, and heres no exception...absolutely heart touching. His readings of "A Fool In Love" and "Strangers In The Night" (the tag on the ending should teach Sinatra fans a thing or two) are also top-notch. One of my favorite Jimmy Roselli albums, and I have them all."
