CD Reviews

Fantastic , Album of 1999

"Simply amazing,he is simply the Finn version of Beck, with enough publicity,i believe he can be as famous, his music creation is weird and tasteful, eclectic might be a jargon for trash bands like Gomez and the Beta Band. Still, his music taste takes a man years to appreciate."

"I have to say that the review I wrote a year ago is absolutely drivel. How could I ever compare the lovely Jimi to the... well, the man-boy who is supposed to be Bob Dylan of our generation? No, no, that comparison is utterly unfair. Beck seriously has gained too much fame for his own good, just compare his recently pseudo-Princey offering to his classic 'Odelay'.Well, Jimi Tenor is downright different from his peers. He is one of the few recognizable faces under the Warp label, in the same way as Aphex i guess. As oppose to the cold and abrasive Machine Music his contempories make, his music is more humane, electronic music with a human face. In addtion to that, he is one of the brightest star in Finland, yet his talent is still not fully-recognized internationally. It's good actually, just listen to Bjork's new offering, compare it with her..let's say 'Play Dead', you will actually realize that how fame can murder one's talent relentlessly. Talking about 'Organism' the album, i made it my No.5 top album of 1999. It is beautiful, diverse in style, yet coherent, I like the way he blends jazz with electronic music, so refreshing. I know many artists are doing that, but his sound is unique. He is apparently one of a kind. Despite the fact that he is not one of those ground-breaking artists like Amon Tobin or Aphex Twin I suppose, but listening to his music is even more enjoyable than listening to the Chemical Brothers. Yeah, it's true!"
