CD Reviews

Rich & Intriguing
Chris Sonnack | Inver Grove Hts, MN USA | 05/10/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Jessy Greene's music is rich, complex and interesting. It's darkly romantic with overtones of hope and whimsy. The artist is both poet and musician--the words are as important as the music.I like an album where the tunes don't all sound the same, and Jessy Greene's musical background and experience covers a wide range of styles and moods. Each tune is a distinct individual. The more I listen to the album, the more I like it. Tunes that didn't grab me initially become friends as I get to know them, and the tunes I liked from the start (like BLUE SKY and SAD PARADISE to name two) stay strong after many listenings. There are two reasons I don't give this five stars: (1) as a self-produced album, apparently produced low budget, it lacks some of the studio fullness of sound found in professional (big buck!) productions, and (2) on a PERSONAL level, I like my music with a little more rock. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars to ignore the personal preference.Bottom line, this is Good Stuff! Well worth a spot in anyone's music collection."
