CD Reviews

THE FUTURE OF PUNK REGGAE IS JAYA THE CAT!!!
The Original Rude Boy | Los Angeles, CA | 10/17/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What an amazing album! If you are a fan of THE CLASH, SUBLIME, LONG BEACH DUB ALL STARS, RANCID, 311, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, and PENNYWISE... you'll probably love JAYA THE CAT. From the Street vocal styles meets street smart lyrics meets kick ass dub bass lines = one of the best debut albums to come out during a time in alternative music when everything looks and sounds the same. All posers beware... THERE IS A NEW SHERIF IN TOWN. JAYA THE CAT will hit you like a rude awakening! Do yourself a favor... pick up a copy of BASEMENT STYLE and then buy some for all your friends. It's one of those kind of records that changes lives. NO JOKE!"
Very Strong

"What could you possibly say about this disc? Jaya the Cat has hit the mark and stands to change the face of popular music. This is not an album for sheep. If you understand the lyrics of the Clash or Rage Against the Machine, you will find a lot to ponder. Musically, it's impossible to classify these guys. There is something there for everybody, and I suggest you give it a listen. Jaya the Cat is like a snake it the night. Jaya seethes, Jaya recoils, and Jaya STRIKES!."
Talent. Period.

"These guys kill. I heard "Wilderness" on a dirt bike movie soundtrack and bought the cd based on that killer cut. I'm glad I did. These guys are so talented. The music is a mix of Clash, Marley, Metallica and Green Day. Nobody does sh*t like this. Very original. The review guy from "Bitchburg" is whack and doesn't know talent when he hears it. I doubt these guys have to prop themselves. I mean, you're either real or you're fake. These guys deserve recognition for the heart, soul, humor and angst they put into music. They are not passive. They relate what it is to be human in a machine world. The cd's not perfect, there is some filler, but to my mind that just makes the whole deal more real. I mean, there's filler in all of us - right?

Four stars for bein' honest with your tunes. Give this a listen it's fun real music."
