CD Reviews

Eclectic indeed...
Joe Valenzuela | Chicago, IL | 10/28/1999

"javier garcia is by far one the most talented, unique and original acts on the music scene period. this cd has been in my cd player ever since i got it. i can not ever begin to tell you how much i enjoy it. it goes beyond genres. songs like 'estaba ciego' 'a casa' and the irrisistible 'tranquila' are more than worth the price of the cd. Also check out the remix cd that was released with 'lagrimas negras.'"
AN ECCELTIC MIX OF LATIN GUITAR AND HAUNTING VOCALS
Eric Ramirez | HOUSTON, TEXAS | 03/09/1999

"THIS CD SHOULD BE ON YOUR LIST OF CDs TO BUY THIS YEAR. JAVIER GARCIA HAS HARNESSED HIS LATIN BACKGROUD AND CULTURE AND MIXED IT INTO A VERY DISTINCT SOUND ALL HIS OWN. LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC YOU GET THE IDEA THAT SOMEONE REALLY HURT HIM AT ONE POINT AND ALL THAT EMOTION COMES RIGHT THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. HIS MUSIC AND VOCALS ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL AS WELL AS EROTIC. I LOVE THIS CD!!!!!."
Waiting for the Next Garcia Project...

"What a tremendously impressive debut from J. Garcia ! The music is warm, cultured, colorful, and deep. The Latin sounds are very familiar yet wander into some fantastic unchartered musical landscapes and territory. The flamenco-gypsy sounding Mujer, the danceable Tranquila, the love obsessed and haunting Seras Mia (gorgeous classical quitar) are prime examples of the eclectic styles that work coherently. The simple and low keyed characteristic of La Lluvia translates into a song that can still be powerful in meaning and music (it's strength is in it's subtlety)! The roaring twenties' English sung track Love for Life includes a twist of rock. Simply astonishing ! He's a genius at being able to take so many musical international styles and bring them to perfect unity for the entire album process.Anyone who listens to Latin artists or groups such as Mana, Thalia, or Alejandro Fernandez surely needs to add this to their musical colllection; It's a definite hit !"
