CD Reviews

Passionate, intense beauty
Jen Simmons | Seattle, WA USA | 04/13/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When you hear that this is Arab-Andalusian (Spanish) music played on traditional instruments, you might think that it's probably only interesting from an ethnic musicology standpoint. You would be so, so wrong.

I'm no expert in Arab-Andalusian music, but this does sound pretty authentic to me as far as that goes. However, the sophisticated arrangements are written to appeal to a modern ear, and the result is absolutely sublime. Except that I would find myself occasionally gazing off into the distance, day dreaming about warm Mediterranean breezes and a private garden oasis..."
