I was driving as she was being interviewed on the radio. When they started playing samples from this CD, I almost had to pull over. Her voice is TRULY AMAZING and the arrangements are very traditionally and beautifully done. This a must have for anyone who loves Christmas music." I don't know why Amazon doesn't have sound samples but if you get the CD you'll find that Jana has a beautiful voice.
10 different American Indian languages for the 10 songs, the instrumental part is modern non-Indian and the songs themselves have been adapted very well. I suspect that the rhythm isn't traditional for each language but the effect works so well few will mind, played in the background a casual listener might not even notice they aren't in English. Everything is good but I think I liked #4 "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" (Lakota) and #10 "Amazing Grace" (Lumbee) perhaps the best. I'd like to have English/Indian lyrics for the songs, you don't get that, but find no fault with this CD otherwise. Buy it for Christmas and get someone else a copy, you won't regret it." |
