"This is just a great album!Great vocals, guitars and melodies. Rockers and Ballads the way we like it!This just delivers and will blow anyone away who is into Whitesnake, Blue Murder, TNT, Dokken, quality hard rock from the 80ies.Try their other albums, especially 'Trust' and IV"
Powerhouse melodic hard rock from Germany
Justin Gaines | Northern Virginia | 10/18/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"German melodic rock band Jaded Heart followed up their 1994 debut Inside Out with the 1996 release Slaves and Masters. As with the debut, vocalist Michael Bormann and company are in fine form on Slaves and Masters, delivering the kind of hook-laden classy melodic hard rock that had long since faded from popularity in the US. Germany seems to be a stronghold for that kind of music though (if Bonfire, Fair Warning, and Axxis are any indication), so Slaves and Masters was very well received on the band's home turf.

To my ears, Slaves and Masters is a notable improvement over Inside Out. That was a perfectly good release, but suffered a bit in terms of both production and vocal performance. Everything seems tighter and more refined on this album, even if it seems like an album more suited to 1986 than 1996. There is still the sense that the band wasn't entirely comfortable writing and singing in English, but it's less noticeable than on Inside Out.

If you're one of the remaining faithful who still follow melodic rock, even though radio and MTV tell you otherwise, you'll want to check out Jaded Heart, who is proudly carrying the hard rock banner into the new millennium. Jaded Heart builds upon everything that made AOR and hair metal so much fun in the 80's, adding their own unique touches along the way.
