ANOTHER GOOD ONE
alain robert | ST-HUBERT,QUÉBEC | 06/15/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Right from the start ,LES BONBONS(THE CANDIES)makes fun of a ridiculous lover who always brings candies to his girlfriend because flowers are perishable.BREL used to act out this one in his live performances and even made a sequel LES BONBONS 67 in which the lover grows his hair and has the ancient accent that he says nobody has anymore except BREL when he is on television.Things gets heavier with LES VIEUX, a sad song about old age which is one of his obsession(he died at 49).For him, there is no advantage at getting old.Among other ones are LA FANETTE a personnal favourite that he destined to ISABELLE AUBRAY,a singer who had a big accident in the sixties. There is also LES FILLES ET LES CHIENS ,in which BREL again compares women with an animal, another obsession and what about AU SUIVANT(NEXT),that explains the anxiety of a young soldier who has only a few minutes to perform a sexual act in a bordello. In LES TOROS the singer says that bulls are bored on sundays. The least i can say is that JACQUES BREL is faithfull to his themes. All this to tell you to go to your nearest AMAZON store to buy another good opus from BREL."
