"I can't believe this guy's work eluded me for so long. Or to put it more truthfully: I can't believe I ignored this guy for so long. This CD is a mindblower! No-holds-barred OUT jazz heavily influenced by Ayler and late-period Coltrane that possesses just the right key elements of melody and soul with many a moment of room-clearing skronks.
The other ingredient of note here is the Brazillian percussionists, who add an exotic vibe to the proceedings, not unlike late-'60s Pharoah Sanders. Add to that the highly estimable ex-Coltraner Rashied Ali and piano-God Matthew Shipp, and the combination is unbeatable. Seriously, one of the best FREE albums of the last half-decade. Don't miss out."
