CD Reviews

Irene Reid Rocks

"Bawdy, rocking, if you don't enjoy this CD, you're dead. Big, Fat Daddy and One Eyed Man are special favorites. And this band is tight -- check it out on BFD. Rhythm is like breathing to these people... One of the best CDs I've bought in a long time!"
Pure dynomite on a disc!

"This lady really knows how to get you up out of your seat. If you like to boogie this is for you. Plus Charles Earland's band is so tight and the cd so well recorded that it makes you feel as if you are in a Chicago blues joint."
The tunes won't leave your head ! ! !

"This is an unbelievably swinging album... Irene Reid is a bluesy Jazz singer with a hard no frills edge who can swing her butt off... There's something both sweet and filthy in her voice... an honest, street wise sense of phrasing that makes the lyrics groove and come to life - - it is neither innocent or pretentious... She's cool... you sweat... - - Its almost like she's right in your face telling you a thing or too... never mincing words... and right on the groove....Teamed up with The Mighty Burner and Company, this album is one of those CDs who's tunes linger in your head long after you've heard them - - what makes it great is that it also has that classic Charlie Earland feel - - he's able to do his thing strongly, and she does her's strongly and together it works... -For the past 3 years I haven't been able to get the version of WHAT A DIFFERENCE that appears on this CD out of my head. - - All in all, of all the CDs I've reviewed at Amazon... this is definitely one that I would classify as mandatory listening - - blues, vocal, Jazz, organ, groove, you name it."
