"As a lover of Early Music, I have collectd several of the best works put out on CD over the years, and now have a nice little library of this genera music. And this disc on the Helios label, which features Italian works from the early 17th century, fits in well. It is highly recomended as an introduction to the "Late Renaissance" style, which was by this time highly popular throuout Europe, especially in England, where a vogue for all things Italian was all the rage in the court of Elizabeth I. The instrumental works feature viols(the parents of our modern bowed string instruments), as well as harpsicord and regal(a sort of medieval pump organ). All in all, a great disc that will enrich the musical tastes of those who hear it."
