Salzburg, Glyndebourne and Aix-en-Provence: these three places are certain to be mentioned when the conversation comes round to standard-setting mid-twentieth century performances of the main Mozart operas and just like Salzburg and Glyndebourne are associated with Karl B"hm and Fritz Busch, Aix-en-Provence is associated fi rst and foremost with the conductor Hans Rosbaud, who had a formative infl uence on the so-called Aix Mozart style. In particular the productions of Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni gained worldwide fame - which is why these two operas form the heart of the scenes selected for this compilation of live recordings made in Aix-en-Provence.
