"HAMI" An Artist Ahead Of His Time!!!
bZo! | USA | 07/24/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Hami the artist is argubly one of the most underrated artists, writer, producer, musicians on the scene period. This CD was overlooked simply because there was no market for it then. Shoot, when these artist of the day come out that gate talkin' 'bout how original they are & how they're tha' first to come out with this style verses that style. Well, no disrespect, but this CD will bring back the old expression: "Ain't nuthin' new under the sun"! Man, this brutha' was spittin' madd scats, cromatic melodies, rapid fire lyrics long before any of these chil'rens hit the scene. This CD was released in 1995 y'all. Personally, the brutha' could drop this joint right now as iz, & it would rip a new hole in a bunch of muggs. But y'know that's just my personal feelin's yo'! Consider this: long before "Eryka Badu,India.Arie, or Jill Scott"- for that matter this project came out.Hence..."Hami". An artist ahead of his time!!! Rarely can you purchase a CD these days & play e'vry cut from start to finish. Check out some of these titles: Some Things Are Betta' Left Alone, Wasted Youth, I'm Tha' One You Slept On", One Less Trick-(I Gotta Worry About), Relax, and "New Frontier" for the hiphop headz. Hami is also a great story-teller. Very imaginative concepts, & arragements. Hami also uses acoustic, tradtional instruments like: violin, cello, upright bass, muted trumpet, as well as instruments & technology of the day, drum machines, loops, scratches, guitar, bass guitar,& keyboards.

Hami has managed to cleverly incorporate, Reggae,Jazz,Funk,Classic R&B, & Hip-Hop beats under some of the most well Produced lead & background vocals this side of the Mississippi. Did y'all know that Hami is largely responsible for some of the funkiest groovz to come outta tha' West Coast, especially in the hiphop community. For all you "Old School" headz, remember "Shalamar's hit; "Dead Giveaway", yep "Hami" co-wrote that. As well as the num.#1 smash by girl group: "Mokensteph"- "He's Mine" Hami has also been responsible for discovering as well as Producing/Writing for groups like:"Immature.Legacy,10db,llDXtreme,Princess&Starbreeze, as well as solo artists like: Brian McKnight,Babyface,Natalie Cole & a host of others. Plus the man ain't showin' no signs of slowin' down: "Will Wheaton,Ronee Martin,Steve Cole. He's all over, hell tha' man only plays like, 20-zillion instruments-(except the accordian-ha,ha). In other words, I emplore you all to give this Artist an ear, you will not be disappointed.

Whatever y'all decide ta' do, don't let "HAMI" be tha' one ya' slept on! Love supreme!-bZo!"
All praises to Hami !!!

"Truly a descendant of royal funk! This CD is unbelievable (and sorely overlooked) Reminiscent of Toni, Tony, Tone' and Damian Dame (R.I.P) with a taste of Musiq (before there was musiq!) Could easily be re-released today and blow up without being dated."
