This is Vol. 4, the last in the series to be reissued in hybrid SACD format by Pentatone. Handel cobbled together these works largely from his earlier instrumental sonatas and operas. The purpose was social: to charm and delight his audiences during the intermissions of his oratorios. That he succeeded is abundantly evident to the most casual listener. To this day, the organ concertos provide ideal musical relaxation (To those who think writing this sort of music is easy, just try it!)"
