(4 out of 5 stars)

"'Secrets of the Jungle', in my opinion, deserves a "4" because the music and nature sounds are sooo interesting; it leaves one wondering: What instrument is that? Or...I'll bet that bird is pretty. This album is, depending on your mood, either extremely engaging or soothing. Sometimes I can't listen to it because of its intensity and other times I pop it in and am swept away into the Costa Rican rainforest...where I'm exploring on-foot the many mystiques of the jungle. While this album may not be the most soothing of albums, it is definitely a stirring example of the creativity that can go into designing a piece of music. Kavanagh manages to incorporate several unusual and high interesting musical instruments into his compositions--definitely, at least to the average American, these are secrets of the jungle! When I listen to this album I like to imagine that I'm meandering in and out of ancient temples and ruins, close to the river and mountains...ever finding something new. There's always a new sound...a new vision. There are streams that will wind through your spirit and refresh it, there are music pieces that will stir it...reminding you of how it might feel to be awed by the ancient American temples.Wow...this album definitely does take me away!"
