Bob Singleton, founder of the Golden Gospel Singers, was born in Harlem, New York. Back then New York was not an easy place for Black children to grow up, so his mother sent him to South Carolina to live with his Grandmother. As a small child, Bob experienced true Gospel music, going to church 4 or 5 times each week with his Grandmother. At age 8, Bob returned to New York to live with his mother and the church and its music had already become the center of his life. As a teenager, he sang in 5 different choirs at the same time, and directed an ensemble of his own. After six years in the U.S. Army, Bob completed his studies at the New York University Business School and settled into a lucrative career at IBM. But the power of his church and his music would not let him go, and after 4 years, he gave up his IBM career for a life dedicated to serving God through his Gospel music. In 1991 Bob founded The Golden Gospel Singers. The Golden Gospel Singers have become a "brand name" for extraordinary gospel music, seeking out and discovering "the best of the best" from gospel singers all over the USA. This magic has been re-born each year for the past 15 years, with an annual concert tour of over 100 concerts each season. Since those early beginnings, Bob and his Golden Gospel Singers have traveled around the world, spreading the "holy message" and "good news" of his music. As the groups' popularity and success has grown, he has remained faithful to its foundation.
