"I picked this one up in the local Be-Bop record store, hoping it wasn't full of latin music that irritates me on most chill out CDs...nothing wrong with latin, mind you...I just feel that it has it's place. Anyway, "Global Lounge," much like its companion disc, "Cafe Lounge," is chalked full of original and sophisticated gems that aren't readily found on those chill out CDs that are inundating the market these days. And though latin/salsa/cuban rhythms may come to mind at first glance of "Global Lounge," it is in fact much more than that, precisely mixing elements of house, ambient, dub, funk and downtempo beats with rich and beautiful female vocals. That aside, Global Lounge shines with unique chilled, tribal rhythms that are sure to entertain and relax you beyond belief. The opening "Magic Tribe" prefaces the rest of the CD and sets the mood for Global Lounge. From then on, it gets better and better with stellar songs from 2 Songs, Afterlife, BPM, Transit, Vertigo Deluxe, Sasha Lazard, Taste Experience, Bella Sonus (my favorite), Oktane, Phobos and an Ecclectic remake of the Karen Carpenter classic, "Rainy Days and Mondays" by Fac 15. Never heard of most of these artists or previous material by them (except for Afterlife and Phobos--pick up any "chill" CD and you'll find material from them), but Neurodisc has a winning formula with their "lounge" series... and if this is only an iota of what to expect from this record label, they're gonna make all those other chillout labels sound really bad."
