CD Reviews

One of my all time favorites!

"I found this artist quite by accident...just happened to be in the right place at the right time (for once in my life) nearly 2 1/2 years ago one Friday night at the club SQUEEZEBOX in NYC. Onstage appeared this beautiful wraithlike androgyne, guitar in hand, and I was treated to some of the best synthetic gothic pop tunes I'd ever heard. I'd never walked in cold on a band I'd never heard before and been SO impressed! I immediately ran downstairs to the coatcheck counter where they were selling this disc (it was the CD release party of all nights) and have played it constantly since, its always "in rotation" in my CD player & the songs stick like glue in my head.Imagine perhaps a meld of the Cure, NIN, David Bowie and Prince and some of the catchiest songs while still emotionally enveloping. I was in a bad state of depression that summer & listening to this disc helped pull me thru. It hit me on an emotional level like nothing else had since "Pretty Hate Machine". I can't recommend it highly enough! Also check out his others - "Pretty Scary", "The Heraldic Universe" and the forthcoming "Soft White Ghetto"."

"I had never heard of Glampire until my friend gave me this sampler cd. We had both worked for hot topic and for some reason they had sent her this sampler cd. Anyway, this took a little for me to listen to. I never thought that a guy could have such a feminine voice. At first it stuck me as odd but then it was quite wonderful. "People Like You" is a great track. The lyrics and beat is very origional and yet quite familiar. I'm a big fan of Nine Inch Nails and The Cure. Glampire combined both of these sounds to make something that couldn't be done by anyone else. Its' a great cd and its' about time for something new."
