"Germaine Montero's acting career started in a theater in Madrid, in the '30s, under the direction of none other than Frederico Garcia Lorca. In France, she first became known through her interpretations of Spanish songs, but her powerful voice also sang the French poets, such as Pierre Mac Orlan, Jacques Prevert, Joseph Kosma (Autumn Leaves), and Leo Ferré, as well as the classics of the French repertoire. On the stage, she interpreted Claudel, Pirandello and Bertold Brecht. She also appeared in many films. Montero's deep, remarkable voice, full of emotions, interprets with feelings and intelligence the beautiful lyrics of the great poet Frederico Garcia Lorca. I still have an old LP, which I purchased in the '50s, when I was fifteen, which I still play often although, by now, as you can imagine, it has seen better days. The same set of poems, with the beautiful guitar accompaniment, was published in the late '90s, but unfortunately is out of print and otherwise unavailable, but I am still hoping...
