CD Reviews

Unexpected elevator muzak
Stephen C. Atwood | Astoria, Queens | 05/22/2010
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I have been a fan of the progressive rock band Genesis since the early 1980's. They're brilliant instrumentation throughout their musical career is sheer genius and borders on pure rock opera in their scope and spread of their thematic length albums.

And I love classical piano as well: Chopin; Debussy; Jakoulov; Glinka; Mompou; and even Christopher Riley's reinterpretation of Radioheads music into pure piano magic; etc....

But many of these reinterpreted Genesis songs dangerously trespass onto cheesy (not in the campy good way) elevator muzak territory. I love the artists ambitious nature of their project but all in all it's not for me."
