"the GEARS weren't originators of the LA scene(the WEIRDOS & the GERMS came earlier) but their sound epitomizes the late '70's Southern Cal.the way the Beach Boys did in the burgeoning '60's.

This is powerful hooky & unpretentious,lots of ripping guitars & a very good production job,the sound is still as fresh today than it was when the LP was issued(the engineer,Noah Shark used to work with such luminaries as Tom Petty or Dwight Twilley,it sounds perfect for the band!).

The only other band they remind me of is the FLYBOYS,from O.C,who cut a sublime mini LP ,in a similar mould,at the same time.
