"I'm so glad I found out about this artist. Having bought this CD, I can say that "snippets" don't do these songs justice. Gavin writes some of the best lyrics I've heard. Inspired songwriting, great playing and killer production as well. His voice / phrasing could probably take even a mundane song and make it interesting. (I will say that the titles can be a little misleading as to the content, but then everything about this CD seems meant to take the listener past their first impression.)I can say, after seeing him on tour, he's the real deal too; Solo/acoustic AND with a band, he's great. All of the same intensity, tenderness and aggression that's on the CD. I hit Amazon.com the next day and bought it.If I were to compare him to anyone musically, I'd have to say he falls right in line with NICK DRAKE. (...remember him?) "Angels, Bombs & Martians" has the same type of vocals and a similar style of songwriting / instrumentation. Or maybe JEFF BUCKLEY with a deeper voice, fronting DAVE MATTHEWS BAND. You decide...Regardless of who you'll compare him to, he's seriously worth a listen."
