Born plain old Gary Webb in 1958, Gary Numan went on to become one of the pioneers of electro-rock & pop during the 80s. Now facing a resurgence of interest having been heralded by the likes of Richard X, Armand Van Helden & the Sugababes, the godfather of electronica returns with an album of his biggest hits. 'Resonator' features 12 tracks including 'Cars' & 'Are Friends Electric', as well as a host of other Numan favorites, along with 2 bonus tracks, 'Crazier' (Steve Osborne Mix) & 'Ancients' (Grayed Out Mix). Universal. 2004.

A GOOD CD FOR WHAT IT IS.

"This CD helps to collect some of the recent one-shots out there following Gary's return to fame.

If you buy this CD you get the instrumental song "Exposure", the only original recording from the CD EXPOSURE, saving you from having to buy that worthless CD.

You also get the 2 original co-written songs "Crazier" and "Ancients" from they HYBRID CD, saving you from having to buy that worthless CD. "Ancients" is a boring song, but this CD also includes a much better re-working of the song called "All I Know". However, the version of "Crazier" here is not the original version on HYBRID. Instead it's the (Slide Mix) taken from the single CRAZIER. But don't worry, this mix is much better than the original, so you're not missing out.

Also you get from the CRAZIER single the B-Side track "Big Black Sea" which is mildly cool, but it's not written by Gary at all. Too bad it's missing the B-Side song "Garden Man" from the CRAZIER single, so you could have avoided buying that as well.

Then throw in some lame remixes and there you have it. RESONATOR would have gotten 5 stars from me if it would have included ALL the missing pieces from the EXPOSURE, HYBRID, CRAZIER triumvirate (i.e. "Crazier", "Garden Man") but since it includes 4 of the 6 original songs ("Exposure", "Ancients", "Crazier Slide Mix", "Big Black Sea") and has it's own "unique" song "All I Know" it's definitely worth buying."
