Synopsis

Album Description
Nancy Galbraith has emerged as one of the present era's most inspired and masterful composers of serious music. Original, challenging, yet utterly accessible, her works are regularly performed and broadcast worldwide, consistently pleasing audiences, musicians, and critics. Her music has been directed by some of the world's finest conductors, including Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Mariss Jansons, Keith Lockhart, Sidney Harth, Samuel Jones, and Robert Page. Her compositions are featured on numerous recordings. With major contributions to the repertoires of symphony orchestras, concert choirs, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, and soloists, Galbraith continues to play a leading role in defining "the sound of classical music" in today?s concert halls. She currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, where she is Professor of Composition and Theory at Carnegie Mellon University, and Music Director/Organist at Christ Lutheran Church. CollegiumUSA is proud to present this wonderful recording of Galbraith?s Missa Mysteriorum. For those who may be hesitant to explore contemporary music, HAVE NO FEAR. Galbraith?s work possesses genuine melody, with a sweeping American character ? at time, almost cinematic in their arc; her harmonies are transparent and attractive; and her propulsive rhythms are reminiscent of the music of John Adams (El Niño, The Chairman Dances, etc.) and Michael Nyman (The Piano).
