Synopsis

Amazon.com
In scoring this cult TV hit, Fred Mollin exhibits a flair for the bombastic and the subdued. The two extremes often battle for dominance within his synthesized orchestrations--one minute, tempestuous strings and brass surge and monstrous percussion pounds ferociously only to give way to a delicate piano or harp melody. It's an appropriate sonic clash for a series about a blood-sucking detective with a soft spot for humanity. Within this intense maelstrom of sound, however, Mollin finds order and balance with a consistent ebb and flow in drama and dynamics. In spite of its obvious synthetic qualities, Forever Knight is a dramatic illustration of the potency of electronic scores in the TV realm. Toronto torch singers Lori Yates and Molly Johnson also appear. --Bryan Reesman

CD Reviews

FOREVER KNIGHT soundtrack truly worthy music of the night!

"As a long-time fan of the series, I originally bought this CD in the hopes of finding a particular piece of music from the TV series, but ever since I first listened to it, I've fallen in love all oevr again with Fred Mollins' darkly lyrical music. An even greater joy was the inclusion of Nigel Bennett as the voice of the series' dark lord "LaCroix", speaking the words and thoughts of LaCroix. The series may be ended, but thanks to this recording, the soul of FOREVER KNIGHT lives on!"
Simply FANG-tastic!!!!!!!!

"Being an FK fan to the core, even though I only recently discovered the show, I ran out and bought the CD without sampling it, just the theme music makes it worth buying!!! The vocals of Lori Yates are fantastic...still haven't decided which song is my fave, it's a toss up between the Hunger and Dark Side of the Glass. For anyone interested in listening to some spectacular music...GO BUY THIS CD!!!! You won't regret it!!! I think that Geraint Wyn Davies does a out-of-this-world job on the piano (Nick's Piano Theme has to be my fave piece of the whole CD)....and what can I say, I love Fred Mollin! I have listened to the CD non-stop, for weeks now, without tiring of it (I bet the rest of my collection feels neglected!!!) When can we get another CD from FK????!!! Please let it be soon!!! One truly satisfied customer."
While I am not a fan of the series...

"I know someone who is, and that is how I got exposed to this truly wonderful soundtrack. At first, I was leary of the vocals by Lori Yates, and in fact I found one of them to be nothing more than the title repeated ad infinitum; but she added a mostly welcome and tolerable tone to this soundtrack. Also, I found Nigel Bennett's quips to be amusing. However, where this track truly shines is the instrumentals. That may be a bias of mine, but so be it. There are so many good electronic instrumentals that it's hard to pick favourites, but I'll list a few anyway: Track 5; the suite from Be My Valentine; Track 4; and the suite from Queen of Harps. However, all of them are truly excellent and worth listening to repeatedly. As such, this album would be a good addition to any collection, and I highly recommend it."
