Synopsis

Album Description
Grace is the fifth full-length, solo album by Peekskill, New York native Fred Gillen Jr. It was recorded live in the studio, solo-acoustic. There were no over-dubs, just Gillen playing guitar, singing, playing harmonica, and sometimes stomping his foot. The album, overall, is a real tear-jerker. By the end of this intense, emotional ride the attentive listener is guaranteed to have shed some real, human tears. "Grace" does not contain dance music, nor is it light-hearted. It penetrates the core of the human condition and tackles difficult issues. On this CD you will hear an artist bear his soul. These songs are stories of the people who are the underdogs of our society. Some of the characters survive their ordeals and some don't and there are lessons to be learned from the ones who don't, as well as the ones who do. Musically, this CD has a similar feel to Bob Dylan's early works. Since all of the songs are live preformances, they retain the roughness! and humanity which makes folk music timeless.
