Synopsis

Album Description
Frank Pelleg (1910-1968), a native of Prague, was a prize-winning keyboard student at Prague University who immigrated to Palestine in 1936. A regular guest of the Israel Philharmonic, he also toured the US, Europe, South America, and Japan. A musicologist and scholar, he became head of the Music Department of Israel's Ministry of Education. He was an advocate for both early music and contemporary composers, and his untimely death at the age of fifty-seven was a sad event to all who knew him. These rare recordings reveal a major artist who must be accounted among the illustrious musicians and music scholars of the twentieth century.
