Synopsis

Album Description
A stimulating album that is born with the help of world-class musicians, including drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting, Frank Zappa, etc.), keyboard players Paul Mirkovich (White Snake, Cher), David Garfield (Musical director for George Benson, Natalie Cole), Glen Woodward (David Foster, Monica), and bass player Justin Meldal-johnsen (Beck, Tori Amos). In short, "The day I spoke to Dog" is a warm, uplifting album. This album contains great songs with beautifull melodies. Under the guidance and expertise of Kameel, the producer, eleven true gems were woven into rich, thought-provoking and catchy songs. Flynn's production was brought to life in various studios in Los Angeles, including "The Record Plant" and "Capitol".

CD Reviews

The musical equivalent of a sigh
11/02/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The melodies are beautiful; the songs will have you singing along immediately; it's a good stress reliever. The reason why, possibly that Terry makes no mention of XYZ is that he wants his present work judged for what it is, and besides, it's nothing like XYZ, which was a bluesy pop metal band from the late 80s. Great, fun band, but so is this, only in a different way. Flynn's The Day I Spoke To Dog is a CD that will just make you feel good, from the inside out. It's cleansing."
Flynn- From Hard Rockin' XYZ to the A-list

"For those of you who still remember the bands of the 80's and early 90's that had some of the most talented singers this album is for you. Flynn a.k.a Terry Ilous, former singer of XYZ, has produced an album of incredible songs. His voice is like no other. Full of emotion and depth. This is not an 80's style album by no means. It is acoustically based and has a sound that will carry itself across any time frame. I recommend this album whole heartedly to anyone who loves music."
Why Isn't Flynn A Major Superstar?

"When I purchased this CD, it wasn't until I came to this page and discovered that Flynn and Terry Ilous were the same person. Not being of the heavy metal mentality (even 10 years ago), I had to do some research and listen to some of XYZ's songs. In spite of my non-metal tastes, I found them to be really talented and enormously enjoyable. But I can see why Flynn has distanced himself from his past. He has a totally different sound and his music has very, very little in common with Cage or XYZ. This is the most moving and thrilling CD I've found in years. Flynn has his own distinct sound and way of putting a lyric across that I find amazing. Plus the fact that -- except for one -- he wrote all the songs AND does all the background voices lets me know that this is one of the most talented people in show business today. I'm going to do my part in making sure that more people find out about him. I am totally flipped for Flynn!"
