CD ReviewsGreat music performed by a great musician! 07/22/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Marina Piccinini's playing is extremely musical and a true delight to hear. Her control over the flute is well-exemplified with her ability to make such sudden contrasts in dynamics--clearly shown in the Taktakishvili, which was what made the piece worth listening to (I am not particularly a fan of that piece as a whole, so it says a lot about her playing). The Schulhoff is a gem of a piece, as is the Martinu Sonata and the Dohnanyi is lovely--all three pieces are worth buying on their own. Overall, the CD offers great, eastern-European music that doesn't seem to be performed as often as it could. The same should be said about this CD; it is not as well-known as it should be, and neither is Marina!"
