Synopsis

Product Description
Canada's #1 nationally-charting pop electronica band release a concept album for 2006. Vintage Red is the 2006 album from Canadian Independent Music Award winners FIDGITAL, showcasing the band's unique sound, taking fresh and bizarre styles and crafting them into catchy pop songs. Coming off the tours in support of their 2004 album Condo Life and the subsequent 2005 Renovations remix collection, Fidgital endeavoured to make this album show off the intensity and musicianship their live fans love. Ten songs and four interval pieces tell an unsettling story of seduction and betrayal. The album is a continuous and fast-paced forty-five minutes, allowing listeners to enjoy the narrative in one sitting. For the iPod generation, each track is self-contained, and can be enjoyed without the continuity of the songs around it. For those who take the time to enjoy the story through the detailed booklet and gorgeous artwork accompanying each piece, the rewards are much greater. A record with diverse influences (broken beat, hip hop, heavy metal, nu-jazz, classic funk, big band swing, Bollywood soundtracks), Vintage Red clearly reveals FIDGITAL as a band with a hard-hitting and completely unique sound. Adventurous and accessible, FIDGITAL comes from the underground but with the pop appeal to reach everyone. Singles "Kill Me Don't Kill Me" - Sugarcubes meet Tower Of Power. A super-fun song about blame and self destruction. "My Life As A Million Billionaire" - Heaven 17 meets Outkast. A four-minute tour of over-the-top lifestyle. "True Ambition" - Judas Priest meets Glenn Miller. The FIDGITAL manifesto, infectiously mixing big band swing with electro funk and heavy metal vocal stylings. "You Got It Goin' On" - Jamie Lidell meets James Brown. A hooky song of obsession and remorse, marrying a soulful vocal performance with live nu-funk. Biography Canadian Independent Music Award winning band FIDGITAL fuses pop, electro and brassy funk into new vocal dance music. Founded in 1999, the band consists of producer Keith Gillard, vocalist Ryan Slemko, bassist Brian "Rex" Barry and drummer Craig "Burdman" Burdes. The debut FIDGITAL EP Social Disease was released in December 1999. FIDGITAL later licensed "Social Disease" to Cybersoul Records, who released a 12" single in June of 2000. 2001's Spyglass hit #1 on Chart magazine's national Canadian electronica album charts, based on radio play. Four tracks were licensed to ABC and FOX prime-time television. In 2002, FIDGITAL released hit&run. This CD hit #3 on Chart's national Canadian electronica top 10. The title track peaked at #3 on Tuned In Radio's international charts. Condo Life was released in 2004, through KOCH Entertainment, hitting #44 on Earshot's national Canadian Top 50 charts and enjoying retail presence and commercial radio play. Pre-release single "The Lobby" was selected by CBC Radio 3 in their Top 20 songs of 2003. Condo Life led to FIDGITAL winning the 2004 Canadian Independent Music Award for "Favourite Electronica Artist / Group". Other nominees were Delerium, Manitoba and Plastikman. Following the award, CBC nationally broadcast a one-hour FIDGITAL live concert special on CBC 1, 2 and 3. 2005 brought Renovations, featuring new songs and remixes from around the world. It was the first FIDGITAL release to chart nationally on both the pop / rock and electronica charts. FIDGITAL's high energy live show has continued to build recognition. In 2005, the band opened for The Herbaliser on their Canadian tour, complete with horn section. The band was selected to be part of the 2004 and 2005 Canadian National Electronic Music Trade Missions to Japan and Australia, combined in 2005 with a Japanese tour.
