"The content of this CD is consistently good although I personally think the two sonatas are the most substantial and that the second sonata is better than the first. Occasionally the music here is a bit astringent so it may not be as immediately approachable as his requiem, cello sonatas or piano quartets. It is worth the effort of getting to know.

The sound quality on this recording is superb. The violin was occasionally just slightly harsh in tone but at those times generally appropriate to the composition's emotional content. Strongly recommended."
