Synopsis

Album Description
Cherry Red Records reissue of cult album for the highly original & innovative technological funksters, Fashion. The band moved the musical boundaries with their unique blend of synths, bass lines & infectious pop in the early 1980's. The CD features all their best loved tracks from their 'heyday' with the cult singles 'Streetplayer-Mechanik', 'Move On', 'Love Shadow' & 'Something In Your Picture' included. Fashion still enjoy a strong reputation for their pioneering recordings that paved the way for many other artists in the 80's. They together with cult German record producer, Zeus B Held made recordings that influenced many recording giants including Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Trevor Horn, Depeche Mode & many more. 2001.

CD Reviews

Slick and Hypnotic

(4 out of 5 stars)

"The tempo and sheer complexity of the arrangements on this reissue of 1982's "Fabrique" send me into a hypnotic trance. The songs are eerily similar sounding yet the arrangements are hauntingly different. What you get is a complex fabric of different songs woven together like an epic voyage into the land of gothic new wave. Fashion is for die hard '80's fanatics who are looking for some dance tracks with a little soul, a little new wave, a little experimental industrialism. "Dressed to Kill" is my favorite song, but I really dig the last few songs--tracks 10-14."

"Finally, a reissue of the long out-of-print CD on Arista. 80's freaks are going to swoon over this, basically being the album "Fabrique" of 1982 plus selected 12" mixes and b-sides from the same period. If you have the original LP you'd want this. I wish they had remastered it though, which is why I only gave 3 stars.."
Sound of their own

"Heard this band in my mid-teens (I'm an oldish fart now) and since have heard a lot of styles of music and can honestly say this is a band that had a stlye of playing and production of their own.

I've heard it described once as 'Level 42' played backwards yet making sense!!! Not sure about that, however what I can say is that these songs have stayed in my head ever since and will do so till the day I meet my maker! Unique and extraordinary stuff.

I defy anyone to listen to the track Slow Blue and not get shivers down their spine... an absolute must have for a music collection. It may take years to fully hear everything. 5 stars."
