"Hollow" Sounding
J. Urban | Iowa | 01/12/2005
(1 out of 5 stars)

"I don't know if the recording process filtered out the bass or if the original bands sounded this bad, but the songs on this CD are of very low quality. The biggest issue is the bass. There doesn't seem to be any. I've played it on several different systems that play other music CDs that have a deep, rich tone just fine so there's something a bit off here.

As of this writing Amazon did not have any tracks from this album available to sample online. Now that I've bought it I think I know why. If samples were available I'm certain they'd sell fewer units.

Another curiosity is the album cover. It tells us the songs are all played by German and Austrian bands, but the CD images depict a British Band, unless the Germans and/or Austrians have marching bands that wear the red jackets and black pants of the British Army's marching bands. Why depict a British marching band on a CD featuring German and Austrian marches played by German and Austrian bands?

This is not a pleasant listening experience at all. The music is "hollow", "drowned out", and played without passion. For those interested in a good CD of German marches I'd suggest German Military Marches (also available from Amazon). It costs twice as much but its quality is infinitely better than this CD."
