CD Reviews

An album of hits & misses
Metal Lover | Davis, California United States | 03/05/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Their first album since the death of singer Tom Sedotschenko, this one has a cleaner, more mature sound than the previous ones. The new singer definitely fits with the band: very low, clean vocals reminiscent of the later Nosferatu singer or Dreadful Shadows' singer. He does no real rough vocals like Tom did, but his occasional agressive roars are very striking.
Again, this album has some not-so-impressive songs, but others like Misery's Dawn, Kolyma, House of the Rising Sun, and Dies Irae make up for any inadequacies. Misery's Dawn is arguably one of the best Evereve songs thus far (however, the next album glimpses have got me wondering about new possibilities). Regret is worth your money if you don't mind a slight drop in aggression from Stormbirds (or Seasons, which I did not really care for too much). This is the best recorded/mixed/produced album, though."
Cyber Goth At Its Best

(5 out of 5 stars)

"While maybe not as aggressive as the previous two albums. The album openly embraces keyboards and samples and uses them to full effect. Not that this is somekind of techno album, far from it. It uses the samples, effects etc as merely a enhancement of the crunching riffs and soaring vocals. The melodies are tighter while there are enough suprises to keep you interested and loving every second. Plus the cover of house of the rising sun is inspired!"
