GREAT DRUMMING GALORE FROM GLENNIE.

"Evelyn Glennie is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest percussionist alive today and this c.d is my favorite of her works. Most percussionist specialise in certain instruments but Glennie seems to be able to play most of them, on this album Glennie plays the drumkit,flowerpots,bongos,snare drum,shakers,cymbals,mbwata,woodblock, all kinds of shakers and small instruments and new percussion instruments, it's absolutely fabulous. The second track "Halasana" by Cauberghs is for a piano and a drumkit and it's a very interesting composition and the sound Glennie gets from the drums is so beautiful and she plays with such a good technique and dynamics, and you can say that about almost all the other pieces on this c.d, the only thing I dont like is Rzewski's To The Earth beause of the poetry reciting that goes along with the playing, to my ears it is just pretentious.On the whole this is a great c.d with good compositions and improvisations and the playing could hardly be better. Higly recomended."
