"This is the first CD made by Ensemble Amarcord, an extraordinary and relatively new a cappella ensemble comprised of 5 young men from Leipzig, Germany. They all grew up together singing in the St. Thomas Boys Choir (which was directed by J. S. Bach, and in a town with an incomparable musical history), and have an ensemble technique and blend that is quite hard to beat. This recording is a wonderful potpouri of everything from madrigals to German drinking songs to American pop standards and spirituals. Even though this is their first recording and in some tracks they are noticeably still a bit green and don't consistently demonstrate the flawless cohesiveness they are now known for, it is still an extraordinary disc not to be passed up."

"Good balance, inspired singing, unified approach toward choral sound, though scattered point of view related to repertoire choices, the ensemble is not as good as Chanticleer, but is better than The Gents, variety of repertoire."
