CD ReviewsAn innovative experiment A Fan | VA | 08/31/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "This was Elvis Presley's sixth album and was the soundtrack of the movie of the same title. The album was released while Elvis was in the US Army, which meant that he was unavailable to promote the album. Despite this, the album was a big hit, it reached number 2 on the US Billboard album chart and was certified GOLD by the RIAA. It reached the top spot on the UK Record Mirror chart. Songs on the album blended traditional Dixieland sound with the still new Rock and Roll style. It was an innovative musical experiment. Two songs from the album were hits in the US, "Hard Headed Woman" reached the top of the Billboard Airplay and Sales charts and its B-side "Don't Ask Me Why" reached 25 on the Airplay chart. The single would eventually be certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. It was a big hit in the UK and several other countries. The title track, "King Creole" made the top 20 of the Cashbox singles chart in the US and was also a big hit internationally."
