Take the "A" Train Band Members: Sam Trimble (trumpet), founder and manager of EPB, is Professor of Trumpet and Director of Jazz Ensembles at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Sam has performed as lead trumpet and conducted for such entertainers as Tony Bennett, Jack Jones and Bob Hope. He has appeared as soloist and conductor with many professional bands and orchestras in the U.S., including the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. He has been Principal Trumpet with EPSO for 25 seasons. Kenny Capshaw (trumpet), a native El Pasoan, has been a music educator for more than 12 years and enjoys the reputation of one of El Paso's finest band directors. Kenny also operates the Capshaw-Olivas Music stores and plays trumpet with EPSO. Rick Lambrecht (horn), has served as a high school Director of Bands for more than 20 years. His bands have won "Sweepstakes" awards at numerous festivals across the country. In 1996, his Coronado (TX) Band distinguished itself as the only band from North America to be invited to play in the Annual May Day celebrations in Moscow's Red Square. Currently, Rick is band director at Basset Middle School and horn instructor at UTEP. Rick has also been Principal Horn in EPSO for 25 seasons. Jan Zubeck (trombone) is currently the Low Brass Teaching Artist at UTEP and Second Trombone with EPSO. His extensive performance credits include the Richardson and Texas Brass Quintets, Corpus Christi Symphony, Wichita Ballet Orchestra and the Oklahoma Sinfonia. Jim Shearer (tuba) is Associate Professor of Music at New Mexico State University. He has toured the U.S., Europe and the Far East with both classical and jazz groups. Jim appears frequently as guest soloist with various ensembles and maintains an active solo career. He has recorded with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Creole Dixieland Jazz Band, Steve Smith and Django. He is also a Yamaha Performing Artist.
