Synopsis

Album Description
In her fourth studio album, Another Kind of Fire, Edie Carey explores the myriad kinds of fire - romantic and otherwise - that keep us burning below the surface: old resentments, creativity, anger, lost friendships, lust and, of course, love. The album features organic, woody sounds with dark and moody twist, which combined result in beautifully soulful sound.

CD Reviews

Fantastic!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I just got back from a "House Concert" in Vallejo with Edie, and if you ever get a chance, you've got to do it.

Sitting in a living room, feet away from this fantastic artist was a little surreal... when she sang such personal songs and suddenly looked up from her guitar it almost felt TOO personal. Like I had been caught evesdropping, listening to her thoughts... but then her music drew me in deeper and I just realized I was supremely happy to be sitting right there at that moment.

Tonight I heard several of the songs from this album, "Hollywood Ending" and "The Night" among others, then bought this CD and listened to it. I was impressed that Edie sounds EXACTLY as fantastic on this CD as she does singing acoustic in a living room in Vallejo, CA. While I'm certainly no expert, it's as if the producer figured out what awesome talent Edie has, and just figured out how to stay out of the way of her voice and music.

The thoughtful music, coupled with her strong and clear voice are a pleasure to experience. The album explores the "Fires" that we experience and endure... the bad and the good that those fires bring, and the ways that fires that burn within us all.

Amazingly, every song on this CD is enjoyable... I can't believe I haven't heard of Edie Carey until tonight. With influences from some of my favorite artists (Shawn Colvin, Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell) but bringing something totally new and wonderful entirely, this CD is going to get a ton of play time on the iPod."
