Synopsis

Album Description
Although known mostly as a Blues musician, saxophonist, keyboardist and composer Edgar Winter is one musician who's never been afraid to venture into multiple musical arenas, often times within the space of one album, as in his debut, Entrance. Edgar was signed to Epic Records in 1970 after performing on his brother's Second Winter album. He recorded Entrance, which featured himself on most of the instruments. After radio success accompanying his brother on Johnny Winter And, he formed a large horn ensemble called White Trash. Although it was a short-lived group which broke up in mid-'72, Winter assembled another group to record two more albums for Epic Records, White Trash and Roadwork. Here we have the first two records on one CD. Remastered, slip-cased and with new notes. BGO. 2005.

CD Reviews

Nothing is missing

"I just want to help out anyone considering this disc set. I had been looking around for E Winter's Entrance on CD for years, and finally, BGO put it together in this dual disk release in 2005. If you are a Winter fan, thinking of his pop hits like Frankenstein or Free Ride, understand that this is very different stuff. Everyone has different tastes, but personally, I think this is awesome. Smooth, jazzy blues rock, Edgar's killer sax. But that is not why I am writing. For a detailed review from a genuine music critic (?), you can read all about it at All Music Guide.

I am really just clarifying the track line-up. Disc one does have 12 tracks. Tobacco Road IS included on the disc. It isn't clear; if you look at allmusic, while they talk about this being a dual disc, they list the tracks from both discs as one list, numbered 1-22, with a blank on 12, and not listing Tobacco Road either. Head to the BGO web-site (the record label), and they talk about this release as being a single disc compilation. But not to worry, both albums are fully intact, pressed on separate discs. And they are both Excellent."
His two best albums!

"Edgar Winter has worn so many different "coats" and literally plays every style of music however, this his first ablum "entrance" and the the White Trash band (which I saw live in San Antonio, Texas, many years past)are his two best published works and both have held up well throughout the years.

Entrance is a well planned jazz album and White Trash is a great funk horn band."
