CD Reviews

Possibly the best rock CD of the summer.
Muzikman | Charlotte, NC, USA | 07/30/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Take some Staind, throw in a little bit of Fuel, and add just a pinch of 3 Doors Down, and you get a little band from Myrtle Beach, SC, called Echo 7. The reason I bring up the other three groups is because Echo 7 seems to incorporate parts of each of these groups into their music, but do it with their own musical flair. Many people have probably not heard of this group unless they have seen 3 Doors Down on tour in 2003. If so, remember that Echo 7 was their opener.
Echo 7 showcases their talent extremely well on their debut album on In De Goot Recordings. They have the ability to completely change gears in the middle of a song, but also have the ability to keep the intensity in the vocals and music. Lead singer Ronnie O'Briant puts his emotions into "Once Before," and shows his range and true singing talents. The guitar riffs throughout the entire album are spectacular, and hard enough at times to run through a brick wall, such as in "Inside Out" and "Reason Why." One amazing characteristic that any music freak may have been looking for this summer is complex drum rhythms and patterns, since Staind had been known for that, and didn't include too many difficult patterns on "14 Shades of Grey." If that is what you are looking for, Echo 7 gives it up on "Inside Out", "Part of You", "One Step Away", and especially "The After." And possibly the best part of Echo 7 is their uncanny ability to find the perfect harmonies. During the entirety of this album, they show that they could make it as an a cappella group, as some of the harmonies will send chills down your spine, at least give you goosebumps. They also show that they can hit a soft spot too on the closing "Left Alone." Acoustic guitar and piano characterize this song, and make it maybe the most powerful on the album. The lyrics could say it all. "This is one fine mess I've made/There's plenty more from where that came/And when I've had enough to drink/I'll see if things still look the same/When it washes over me/I'll try my best to make believe/That I'm the same man/The same man underneath."
No matter what the price you pay, it will be well worth it, because this could easily be the best rock CD that will be released ALL SUMMER of 2003. It is quickly going in to heavy rotation on most rock stations, and should quickly go into heavy rotation on your CD player!"

"Echo 7 rocks, they've worked really hard to get were they're at now, and they love what they do. If you like 3 Doors Down, Foo Fighters, Chevelle, etc., then you will love Echo 7."

"I have their first CD, Trippin on Destiny, which has Masquerade on it. I love the song, Uninvited, even more. I have been a fan since I first heard Masquerade on my local radio station, in Bluefield, WV. I never had the luck to see them perform, tho. I highly recommend anything by them, tho."
